Not many music genres can draw such a big smile on one’s face as African highlife can. And not many highlife singers can compare himself/herself to the silky voice of Pat Thomas, the legend of popular music from Ghana, who they also call »the golden voice of Africa«.

In his music, the first real »Ghanaian rocker« reflects the taste of the ex-West-African elite in the 70s; he embodies the musical feeling which brought happiness and dancing into the otherwise poor and depressive environment. With the performance of Pat Thomas, Festival Lent complements the »Holy Trinity« of Ghanaian popular music: Ebo Taylor (Festival Lent 2011) and Tony Allen (Festival Lent 2013), were regular co-workers since their teenage years, Taylor and Thomas were the most productive duo of the local environment. Imagine West-African rhythms warming up your guts, flickering wind instruments, guitar tropicalia and traditional, but at the same time modern music, and you will get a approximation of the sound which has been created by one of the giants of African music, Pat Thomas, for more than four decades.

We really can’t imagine a better party!
